The Crown & Anchor, as its name suggests, is a typically English, North Yorkshire pub. Set in an attractive broad tree lined street with grand houses and a couple of village churches, our pub and restaurant serves as a comfortable social hub for Sowerby and its visitors. You will find Sowerby just outside the famous racing town of Thirsk, which makes us quite a popular destination for visitors attracted to the local area by the races but who also want to enjoy our pleasant North Yorkshire village while they’re here.

The ‘no nonsense’ lunch and dinner menus also provide food for thought. Ranging from freshly cooked baguettes and bar snacks to full meals with all the trimmings, The Crown & Anchor uses fresh locally sourced ingredients and seasonal vegetables in a varying menu that includes some well-considered vegetarian options.
The highlight of the week is a truly impressive traditional Sunday roast.

Pub Features
The Crown & Anchor has a large car park, attractive beer garden offering lots of outdoor seating and featuring a new outdoor bar for use on sunny days, corporate events and festivals, as well as darts boards and a large plasma TV screen. The Dining Area seats up to 30 people but the pub is flexible and inside seating can accommodate approximately 50 people, with various areas that can accommodate private parties and additional room outside.
